ICYM Kinnigoli unit celebrated ‘Malgadyanso Dees 2022’

August 8, 2022"UDKANA 2022" - an inter ward games competition. UDKANA commenced on 09/10/2022 at St. Mary's Central School ground.
The ICYM members of Kinnigoli had been preparing for a month for this event to be a great success. For that to happen so an invitation, poster, countdown posters, a theme song composed by Jason, promo video by Melroy, were also made to build up the spirit, and those were shared on the official platform of the ICYM unit and the personal social media platforms of the members. Along with that with the cooperation of unit members, they exuberantly performed flashmob, after all, three masses of the weekend, which got a very great response as well. After a great amount of preparation and hard work from weeks to days, the day ensued on the 9th of October 2022.
At 2:30 PM, UDKANA began along with dignitaries Fr. Faustine Lobo - Director ICYM Kinnigoli Unit, Fr. Vivek Deepak Pinto - Asst. Director, Fr. Lancy Saldanha - Principal St. Mary's Central school Kinnigoli, Shaila Sequeira - Vice president of Parish Council, Vincent Mathias - Secretary of Parish Council, Sr. Premlatha - head of Bethany and Alrick Livian D'Silva - join secretary, ICYM Central Council, Melston Wilfred Noronha - auditor, ICYM Central Council, Nealon D'souza- President, Dolcy Sweezal Santhumayor- Secretary, were the dignitaries on the stage. Sarah Mathias led by stage program by welcoming all the gatherings which continued by the inauguration. Fr. Faustine Lobo delivered a few words commemorating that day and words of encouragement and support.
A total of around 700 parishioners were present for the same. Right after the stage program, "Samskrithik Pata Sanchalan" - a cultural march was presented by the wards of our parish, for which they had been preparing diligently. The march past showcased different cultures across the nation, the importance of saving plants, awareness about the usage of plastic, patriotism, the impact of war, etc. All the ward members performed to their best in different attires and by exhibiting their talent which increased the heat of the already blazing sun. Fr. Patrick, Chandrakanth, and Jayalaxmi were the judges for the cultural data sanchalan. Later, Fr. Faustine Lobo and other dignitaries congratulated all the members who participated in the march past and wished very good luck to all.
Further on, all the ICYM volunteers conducted various kinds of games for different categories such as 1st - 4th, 5th - 7th, 8th - 12th, ladies, gents, and a couple of games. Around 150 participants were there for each game and above 30 couples for couple events, which showed the interest of the ward members. The games were a coin in the flour, sack race, drinking water from holed straws, passing the confetti, etc where everyone from children to grownups participated very enthusiastically and gave their best.
At 4:30 PM, the ward games started with Tug of war. Although all games were great, ward games stole the spotlight. First off, in Tug of war, in which all the wards of the parish took part, ICYM members surrounded the players by making a human chain, so that any inconvenience wouldn't be caused to the players, the players included both men and women. Next Modki putochi, breaking the pot, everyone contributed to the fullest and had a lot of fun. Sequence game was also conducted for the wards, which included task like eating a Banana, blasting the balloon, drinking juice, and so on. All the ward games were the center of attraction, in which all the wards pitched in and gave their best, vast crowd was supporting the players as the ICYM members efficiently volunteered throughout the program.
The treasure hunt was also organized, Rohit from the Immaculate conception ward found the treasure and secured the prize. A stall was also installed by the ICYM Unit.
There were a total of 40 ICYM members who gave their best for the success of the event. Fatima ward secured first place, followed by Michael ward - first runners up and Holy family ward - second runners up. Participants who secured first, second and third place were honoured with medals and certificates. Trophies were awarded to the overall winners and runners-up holders. An amazing event came to an end with Baila Naas.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the ICYM Director, all the parishioners, ward guitars, sponsors, all the ICYM members who worked hard from the beginning, and also Fr. Vivek Deepak Pinto for always supporting and guiding us through every step.
It was indeed a fabulous and memorable day for all. Everyone had a great time and it was a great opportunity for the parishioners to exhibit their team spirit and talent. We received positive feedback and wishes from all.
