Christmas Celebrated at Padmanoor.

As Christians all over the world Celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ with great pomp and gaiety, people of Padmanoor, a place near Kinnigoli, gathered in large numbers to take part in a colorful function organized in a unique way.
People of all faiths joined the celebrations by ‘ Sarvajanika Yakshgana Bayalata Samithi’ Padmanoor which organizes this programme continuously for the last 51 years. The local women’s Self Help group, members of the youth club ‘Thunder Guys” and people from three neighbor wards, St Michael, St. Rafael and Perpetual Succor were actively involved in organizing the celebrations.
On the colorfully decorated stage a skit depicting the birth of Jesus Christ was enacted by children of all faiths, which came in much appreciation by the audience. This was followed by a number of dance items and singing by the local talents.
During the stage programme that followed, financial help was given to 11 beneficiaries from the weaker section, 6 people were given Health Insurance Certificates, 2 girl PUC students were given scholarship, 10 kg rice per family was given to six poor deserving families.
The chief guests Rev. Fr. Vincent Monteiro, Parish Priest of Kinngoli Church, Rotarian Sainath Shetty, Lecturer Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple College Kateel and Mr. Mohammad Baddur, the multilingual literary writer lauded the good work done by the Yakshagana Bayalata Samithi members in promoting peace and harmony in and around Pabmanoor.
President of the Sarvajanika Bayalata Samithi Mr. Joseph Quadras and Vice President Mr. Sathsh Rao were on the dais.
Mrs. Malita Dsouza welcomed the gathering, Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty proposed the vote of thanks, Mrs. Jyothi Pais and Ms. Kavya compered the programme. After the programme, nearly 700 people were served food prepared locally.
