The funeral ceremony of Late Rev. Fr. Matthew Vas was held on October 23rd, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, Kinnigoli. The ceremony began at 8:30 am with a procession from Kinnigoli bus stand to the church accompanied by the priests, nuns and parishioners. Then the body was kept for the public, to pay the respect for the departed soul for more than an hour. Over 2500 people from across districts and all over Mangalore joined the family members along with more than 200 priests paid their last respects to the departed soul. Bishop of Mangalore- Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Udupi- Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Shimoga- Most Rev Dr Francis serrao as well as along with the Bishop Emeritus of Mangalore – Most Rev Dr Alorysius Paul D’souza also paid their respects to the mortal remains.
